Access 9-1-1 Hawaii

The APCO NENA Joint Pacific Chapter is sponsoring the following event with help from the State of Hawaii Enhanced 9-1-1 Board.

You are cordially invited to the APCO NENA Joint Pacific Chapter "Access 9-1-1 Hawaii Forum", Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort and Spa, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm . The cost to attend is $95 (cash or check) will be due at registration.

This is a one-day forum that focuses on “9-1-1 Access for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Persons with Speech Disabilities.” There are an estimated 30 million citizens in the U.S. who are Deaf, hard of hearing and/or have a speech disability. Because of their situation, they may not be able to access the same 9-1-1 system everyone else uses which in many cases, means they cannot call 9-1-1 at all. The all-day event will include breakfast, buffet lunch, and afternoon snacks/refreshments between national and local speakers covering topics related to helping the hearing and speech impaired gain equal access to the 9-1-1 system.

The APCO/NENA Pacfic Chapter will also be recognizing Hawaii’s four congressional delegates for their membership in the E911 Caucus. Hawaii is the second state where all delegates are members.

Governor Abercrombie and a number of legislators have been invited to attend. Leadership from our Congressional delegation, State governance and support will be crucial in helping the speech and hearing impaired have equal access to the 9-1-1 system.

Special guest speaker will be Jason Ryan Dorsey, The Gen Y Guy®Crossing the Generational Divide: Leveraging the Power of Generations™ for Your Strategic Advantage, courtesy of Intrado, Inc.
